child with tooth that fell out

When your child comes to you with a loose tooth, they may or may not be excited. For some kids, this reality can be scary, causing them to fear it might be painful when it falls out. For others, they’re eager to try the latest trick to quickly remove it so the Tooth Fairy will come and leave a special surprise under their pillow. Regardless of which category your child falls into, you want to make sure their tooth comes out in the safest and most comfortable way possible. Here are four safe and effective ways to remove their loose tooth without damaging their smile.

Shut the Door

You’ve seen it in movies and online videos of people tying a string to their child’s loose tooth and attaching the other end to a doorknob. If you’ve ever wondered whether or not it works, it can. All you need to do is find a string that is long enough and attach it to the necessary components. Without slamming it, simply shut the door with minimal force, and the tooth should instantly come out.

Invite the Dog to Participate

If you have a family dog, your child might find this unique trick rather funny. To pull a loose tooth in Coppell using your furry friend, tie one end of a piece of string to your dog’s collar and the other end to your child’s tooth. Using your dog’s favorite treat, throw it and watch as they take off running. The quick motion should cause the tooth to instantly fly out, leaving your child with a newly created gap they’re eager to show off.

Hit the Ball

You’ll need to go outside for this particular tooth removal trick, as it requires hitting a ball. Make sure to grab a long piece of string and tie one end to your child’s tooth and the other end around a baseball or softball. Placing it on a stand or throwing it in the air, hit it with enough force that the loose tooth will instantly pop out.

Let Your Child Do It

Sometimes, what sounds like a fun and exciting idea might actually incite a bit of fear when preparing to execute the plan. This is why you can always help your little one wiggle their tooth loose on their own. If you find they would rather take care of it themselves, you can instruct them to push on it with their tongue until it finally detaches and falls out. While it might bleed, there shouldn’t be much and can easily be treated by having them bite down on clean gauze. Just make sure they don’t use their hands, as bad bacteria can easily be introduced into the mouth.

Losing baby teeth is an exciting step in your child’s oral healthcare journey. Make the process fun, exciting, and safe by trying one of the following tricks to help them grow one step closer to a permanent, long-lasting smile.
